Scam Alert!

Scam Warning! Eater magazine is warning of an online scam affecting NYC restaurants. Online scammers are impersonating Regalis Foods, offering seafood, especially items such as crabs, to restaurants at extremely low prices. Of course, the goods are never delivered. Online scams in general have skyrocketed since March 2020, particularly over Facebook Marketplace, the publication notes.

Keep Throggs Neck Beautiful

The Throggs Neck BID has spent a great deal of time, money and effort beautifying our community. A key part of that endeavor was the development of tree pits with plants and mulch.

Unfortunately, we have observed some individuals placing bikes, scooters, and trash in these sites. To those who do so: Please be kind to your neighborhood. Stop defacing these wonderful sites.

A Gala Celebration

It’s time to celebrate! A Gala Ball is being planned to allow local business and property owners, along with the members of the public, to share a night of great food and drink, convivial company, and general merriment.

There is much to celebrate. The Throggs Neck BID began operations at the most tumultuous and challenging time in memory, as the COVID-19 pandemic hit New York and the rest of the world hard.

Even as most of the rest of the city, including much of city government, retreated to their homes, Throggs Neck BID staff reported each day to work, and went door-to- door to district businesses handing out face masks, sanitizers, and more.  Sanitation and security companies were hired to supplement city services.

In the months that followed, unprecedented successes occurred. The dangerous lack of lighting along East Tremont Avenue was addressed, and bright, new lights were emplaced.  The commercial corridor was dramatically enhanced with new trees, new tree pits with plants, and decorative iron guards. Thousands of toys were distributed to local children. Working with a local institution, numerous food items were distributed.  All this, and much more. As a result of all this, a number of new businesses have opened in our community.

On October 20, 2022, a gathering will take place at the Villa Barone Manor at 6pm.  Please save the date, and watch this space for information on purchasing tickets, journal ads, etc.

We look forward to sharing a great evening with you!
