The Tree guard program has been completed! In addition, the spring planting has been accomplished, as well. Our community has never been so beautiful!
Fighting Graffiti
Our neighborhood is privileged to have dedicated residents who selflessly give their time to making this area one of the best in New York City. A sterling example is John Marano, who diligently eliminates graffiti, without seeking recompense or recognition. Seen in the picture above, John paints over graffiti scrawled over a local store. Thank you, John!
Restaurant Week
There can be little doubt that the Throggs Neck Bid features some of the best restaurants in the entire region. Just about every type of food is available, of the highest quality! While we always encourage everyone to patronize our comprehensive selection of delectable meals, a special time to do so is “NYC Restaurant Week,” July 18—August 21. As frequently noted in our weekly newsletter, the BID is seeking to compile a thorough list of menus, which we will publish on our social media and elsewhere as a guide for patrons throughout the area. BID Plans for Future
To continue and expand the BID’s lengthy list of accomplishments in the coming year, The BID conducted a Finance Committee meeting on May 25 and a Full Board meeting on May 26. The BID’s new fiscal year begins July 1. As noted above, plans are being made to add to the beautification of the community. Through skillful interaction with city agencies and elected officials, some major upcoming improvements, including the installation of anti-crime cameras, will be achieved.
Thoughts on Memorial Day
The Throggs Neck BID recognizes the extraordinary sacrifice made by the families who lost relatives in the defense of our nation. The heroes who fought for our freedom are never far from our thoughts, but especially on this Memorial Day.

BID Acts to Help Fire Victims
In response to the recent fire at Randall and East Tremont, The Throggs Neck BID moved rapidly to organize assistance. We arranged a meeting with NYC Emergency Response & Intergovernmental Services, bringing that organization together with those affected. The meeting was led by Bernadette Nation, Executive Director of the group. She outlined all necessary steps and the help available, and will follow-up with the BID, those affected, and NYC.
The Throggs Neck BID extends its deepest sympathy to the family of James McQuade, who just passed away. James was a true pillar of our community, a man who consistently did all he could to preserve and improve our neighborhood. Rest in peace, James.
An extraordinary improvement to our community brought about by the Throggs Necks BID has become official. On Friday, May 6, Assembly Member Michael Benedetto enthusiastically announced that he had obtained funding for the emploacement of high-quality anti-crime cameras throughout the TN BID area. A ceremony marking the achievement was held at Benedetto’s office.

One of our greatest concerns is public safety. Both The Throggs Neck BID and Assembly Member Michael Benedetto have acted vigorously to address this exceptional need. The BID identified anti-crime cameras as an effective means to improve the safety of the neighborhood. Assembly Member Benedetto responded rapidly to provide the full funding needed to accomplish this extraordinary project. Working together, we will make this area of NYC the safest place to live, shop, and do business.
